Spontaneity is good for the soul, though not always for the wallet.

This weekend was so lovely. Saturday morning I slept in and enjoyed a relaxing afternoon soaking in our unusually warm sun. In the afternoon I went over to school to help plan for our “Extreme Night” which went off extremely wellJ I think the highlight of the evening was seeing a recap of the nights events on video. HILARIOUS.

Sunday I enjoyed a nice brisk walk over to school for church. I love walking in this country! After church was a delicious roast beef and gravy meal, then back home. Grade 9 and 10 invaded our quiet afternoon with an all out war! Spit wads, paint guns, water…this was no small battle! As things started to slow down that’s when the idea was presented…and trip down the hill for ice cream!! After going through the process of getting the excursion approved (4 phone calls) we took off down the hill to bargain for a taxi. To make a trip like that worth while, and also miss dinner…we had to stop in at Pizza Hut where we managed to make complete fools of ourselves. We ordered to meal deals which came with a bowl of salad each. I think in America we call them dessert bowl (cause it was really quite small) so we sent the boys up to get our one time trip up to the salad bar. Of course they had to take advantage of it and pile the bowls up as high as possible. The benefit was that our table was only 3 feet from the salad bar so they didn’t have to make it that far once their masterpiece was complete. Halfway through our pizza the boys broke out into song, singing “Happy Birthday” at the top of their lungs. We of course had to pretend like it was actually someone birthday so we patted one of the boys on the back to make it look like it was his.

After pizza and waiting 15 minutes for our driver to reappear we went for ice cream…the original reason for coming down the hill. I had my Chocolate Fudge Brownie, which was amazing as usual. Then we left shortly to head back up the hill.

All in all it was a great evening and I think necessary for the health of all involved.

Taxi fees - $2000 PKR
Pizza dinner - $2,500 PKR
Ice cream delights - $1000 PKR

Seeing the smiles and hearing the laughter of everyone – Priceless.

Our lovely and handsome boys soccer team after their victories win against the International school. Posted by Picasa

Recent Events.

I think I have already broken one New Years Resolution. Oh well. I think I have a good excuse.

Our Director resigned and left within two hours last week. Our school has been in some sort of a state of shock for the past week. Things are just now getting back to normal. It's been amazing seeing how God has provided us with people with the skills to fill the positions necessary at the moment.

This past weekend was Sri Lankan Independence. It was held at one of the nicest hotels in town, and in the same room my brother had his wedding reception. There was tons of good food, and we even got to take some leftovers home.

Friday we had a soccer game against the International school. We won 4-1. The school was let out early in order for everyone to be able to go and cheer the boys on. I think it really helped to boost the morale of the school.

This weekend we are planning an "Extreme Days" night for the Jr. High. It will consist of "Extreme Body Surfing," "Extreme Cup Stacking," and "Extreme Hula Hooping" to name a few. Followed by watching the movie "Extreme Days" which is quite hilarious, I highly recommend it, and then a short clip of "Extreme Bloopers" from the nights activities. I think it will be good fun.

I took pictures of my flat last night, so I will be putting those up. I got inspired by another staff member here who has done the same. And soon, I will be writing about my doggie...Shadow.
